Welcome 2012!

December has been a very busy month for us and we've loved every minute of it! We've had many opportunities to bake for family and friends, as well as, make new friends because of our sweet treats.  As the year came to a close we reflected on how thankful we are to have such great friends and family and to be able to share our passion for baking and creating with others.

Providing our sweet treats for every day occasions are great, but we really enjoy the special ones. In December we made a number of treats for holiday parties and gifts, but we also made gifts ordered for friends to celebrate accomplishments (like becoming a member of a sorority).  Maybe most exciting was sharing a yet-to-be-born baby's gender through cupcake filling! The grandfather was thrilled to take a bite of his cupcake and learn that he was having another granddaughter.

As full as 2011 was for us, we know that 2012 will have even more in store for us (and you)! We look forward to savoring every morsel.

Pretty in Pink!

Getting colors right has been a topic of conversation this week at A Party for One. The kitchen that allows our magic to happen was getting new wall color. It needed to be a calm, warm, and somewhat casual color that would last for a long time--not an easy decision!

Color popped up again when one of our regular customers had a vision for a display of her cosmetic line and cupcakes--only pink would do! We came up with the perfect shade and added some sparkle to top it all off.

Thanks and Giving

We enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving with family, friends, and lots of delicious food–hope you did too! Thanksgiving, for many, is about eating, football, and preparing for Black Friday shopping.  The bakers at A Party for One ate, watched football, and prepared for Black Friday giving.  We supported Ann Taylor in the Oaks Mall by donating mini-cupcakes in assorted flavors (Key lime, Oreo, chocolate with chocolate butter cream and vanilla butter cream) and logo sugar cookies for their Bake Sale to benefit St. Jude's Research Hospital.  While we were in the mall, we surprised our friends at the Body Shop with mini-cupcakes and logo sugar cookies to share with their customers who were there taking advantage of the day's deals.

We have so much to be thankful for...thanks and giving feels really good!

The Start of the Holiday Season

Fall officially begins in late September, but in Gainesville, FL it can feel like summer for another month.  Now that the mercury is finally dropping, Halloween has passed, and even the time has changed, it is starting to feel like fall.  In many stores, it looks and smells like fall, too!  Displays are up for Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, and Christmas–the holiday season has begun.  At A Party for One we are busy making the perennial favorite flavors, but have also added a seasonal pumpkin cupcake that tastes like fall!  Even friends and family that don't typically like pumpkin love this sweet treat topped with a creamy maple frosting.

Have Your Cookie and Cupcake, Too!

We made cupcakes and cookies--and cupcakes WITH cookies! Nabisco's Oreos remain one of the most popular cookies, especially among true chocolate lovers. So who wouldn't love a dark chocolate cupcake with Oreo butter cream, topped with an Oreo? They certainly got rave reviews, along with some vanilla cupcakes with purple vanilla butter cream, and Key lime cupcakes for a birthday gathering.  The other cookies this week were gifts for a realtor's new homeowners.  Keys AND cookies...nice!

Two Busy Bakers!

The past week was super busy and super exciting at A Party for One! We baked over 1000 mini-cupcakes for a high school homecoming and loved every minute of it. The cupcake flavors included: vanilla cupcakes with chocolate butter cream and vanilla butter cream, chocolate cupcakes with chocolate butter cream and vanilla butter cream, Key lime cupcakes with Key lime frosting, and an extra special purple velvet cupcake to highlight the school colors.
